Better Ride Skills Coaching Coming To Elijay, GA!

Better Ride, the Mountian Bike Skills Coaching used by World Champions Ross Schnell and Sue Haywood (and thousands of passionate riders of all levels), is coming to Mulberry Gap on November 11-13 for a three day mountain bike skills camp. This will be the best investment you have ever made in your cycling. For less than the price of a new wheel set you can learn skills (and drills to master those skills) that will help you the rest of your life.

What to expect from a BetterRide coaching session: Our goal is to teach you the core skills of mountain biking* and give you drills for each skill so you can continue to fine tune the skills long after the camp. With this goal in mind Gene and Andy (with the help of World Champions Greg Minnaar, Marla Streb, Ross Schnell and Sue Haywood (and many more less famous riders and coaches)) have designed a structured Three Day Skills Progression to teach you the "core skills"* of mountain biking. In addition to these core mountain bike skills we teach the mental side of mountain biking throughout the camp to help you over come fear and barriers to improvement and get you riding confidently.

Better Ride Mountain Bike Camps cover:

  1. Setting your bike up for your kind of riding (most bike “fits” are done just for power, wouldn’t you like your bike set up for power and increased control?!)
  2. Body position to keep you balanced, smooth and confident on the most difficult trails
  3. Over coming fears/barriers to your improvement (what good are your new skills if you are afraid/not confident to do them?)
  4. Vision, How to look ahead correctly- Everyone one knows to look ahead but few actually do it! No matter how rough and rocky the trail you need to be looking ahead with both the trail and your goal in focus. This is easier said than done! We will teach you where and how to look ahead, how this effects your riding and how to improve your vision skills. (once mastered
  5. with our drills vision alone will make you quite a bit, smoother, faster and safer on the trail and the road)
  6. Braking skills, learn when and how to brake for a smooth more in control ride (allowing you to go faster)
  7. Cornering skills, from tricky off camber turns to smooth banked corners learn to get through the corners in balance, in control with exit speed (saving you energy! and time)
  8. Descending skills, descend smoother, in balance with more confidence while using less energy (so you can go faster with less fear!)
  9. Climbing skills, climb the most technical climbs in control, in balance and efficiently
  10. Switchbacks, and slow speed balance (that helps in all of your riding)
  11. Mental skills that help you perform at your best
  12. WHEELIES! (correctly, using no upper body strength, both pedaling and coasting wheelies) drops and more advanced obstacle skills (so you can maintain your momentum and ride faster with less effort)
  13. Full Suspension, riding and set up

About Better Ride:

Gene Hamilton founded BetterRide in 1998 to provide structured, professional mtb skills coaching to riders of all ages. Gene has over 20 years of coaching experience and has used this experience to train his certified skills coaches. We will get you riding your best! Coaching sessions range from two hour clinics to three day camps across the US and abroad. Gene and his coaches' career highlights include coaching many top pro racers (World Champions Ross Schnell, Sue Haywood, and Marla Streb ...) and over 1,900 riders who just want to get better. BetterRide coaches are passionate about coaching, riding and helping others reach their goals. All mountain bike clinics, camps and private lessons are guaranteed to improve your riding or your money back.

*They may be core skills but unless someone taught them to you it is unlikely that would know and understand them, this is why pros like Chris Van Dine (Pro downhill racer for Cannondale), Amanda Riley (Pro xc racer for Titus, Hayes, Kenda) Ben Craner (2007, 2008 Utah Pro downhill champion), Lynda Wallenfels (Great Britain National Champ xc racer and coach), Joey Schusler (2008 Colorado Champion) and the Go-Ride pro team take camps from me, which means these camps are great for pro racers as well as advanced beginners. Few riders know these skills and even fewer can do them well (Gene didn't learn many of these skills until his sixth through tenth seasons as a pro racer and only then through asking European and Australian coaches and racers a lot of questions).
