Are you truly a ride-in/ride-out facility for mountain bikers?
Absolutely! We are located in the heart of the designated "Mountain Bike Capital of Georgia". We are surrounded by some of the best mountain biking trails in the southeast We are a ride in/ride out facility for Pinhoti, Bear Creek, Mountaintown Creek, Windy Gap, Tibbs and Milma. Scenic forest service roads connect the trail options.
Shuttle service?
We are happy to provide shuttle service to trailheads! Even though we are ride-in, ride-out, not everyone is up to the amount of climbing it takes to reach some of the trailheads. Because of NFS permitting requirements, we are allowed to shuttle in your vehicle for drop off or pick up. Please come prepared with gas in the tank. We do not charge for this service but tips are always appreciated for the time involved. We send responsible drivers with you and your vehicle is immediately returned to the property after drop off.
What is a sleeping cabin?
One room private cabins. It’s primary purpose is a comfortable place to sleep and store your belongings. At Mulberry Gap, you will spend most of your day in the outdoors, around the table enjoying delicious food and in common areas sharing trails and tales with fellow mountain bikers.
What are the sleeping arrangements?
We never ask you to share a cabin unless all parties request to do so (exceptions made for special events but only with prior notice). There are 4 cabins which make up 7 units for a total of 20 beds.

Here are the configurations:

  • couple/family - has a queen bed and a bunk bed - sleeps up to 4 people
  • couple/family - has twin beds that can be converted to a king bed and a bunk bed - sleeps up to 4 people
  • 1 unit has two bunk beds -sleeps up to 4 people. An additional cot can be added for a 5th person if necessary
  • 4 units have one bunk bed -sleeps a maximum of 2 people
Hot tubs, bathrooms, showers?

Our unique bathhouse is conveniently located near the sleeping cabins and camping area. It has a total of 6 showers, good water pressure and plenty of hot water, 4 toilets and 4 sinks. Another bathhouse with two home type facilities are also available nearby. It is a perfect option for couples or families with young children who need assistance with showering/dressing. The bathhouses are kept warm and cozy in the cooler months.

We have two cozy barrel hot tubs located beside a brook that runs through the property behind the cabins. Relax while enjoying the moon, endless stars and rustling trees. The hot tubs have ozinators and are sanitized daily.

Are reservations necessary?
Reservations are necessary since cabin space is limited however, feel free to email or call about availability for last minute bookings.
Meals available?
You betcha! Ginni’s cooking is known far and wide! Cabin pricing includes a home cooked breakfast and dinner. Lunches and snacks available upon request.
What if I have special dietary needs/preferences or requirements?
When making reservations, please let us know. We are familiar with the dietary needs for diabetes and celiac and can accommodate vegetarians and macrobiotics lifestyle. We must have advanced notice and there may be an additional charge.
What if I prefer to bring my own food?
We are in the Cohutta Wilderness Area so this is bear country! We discourage bringing in foods that will attract bear and other foragers making their way into your quarters. If bringing your own food is important, accommodations will be made to assist you with storage and meal fees will be adjusted.
What about Internet access, beepers, cell phones, radio and television?
Wireless Internet is available in all common areas. Cell phones and beepers do not work on the property. There is a big screen TV with DVD player in the rec room and is connected to cable and sports channels.
Pet Policy?
We are pet friendly! Please crate them or bring a blanket to protect our rugs and bedding. Clean up after your pet and keep them restrained if necessary so they are not a nuisance or threat to other guests or dogs. When making reservations, please let us know the breed and approximate weight of your dog. Sorry, we cannot offer long-term boarding but are happy to offer day services if needed.
What is your "lights out" policy?
Because we are small and private, this is an excellent facility for small groups or friends to gather and enjoy their time together. If one group reserves the entire camp, a great deal of leniency can be shown. However, if multiple guests are in camp, a reasonable lights out, no noise policy should be observed. Several gathering places are available away from others wanting to sleep. Above all, please be considerate of others!
What is your policy regarding smoking and use of alcohol?
Smoking is a major fire threat in our wooded environment. If you must smoke, please do so in the area of a fire pit and dispose of the butt therein. Moderate use of alcohol is allowed however, drunkenness, unruly behavior or use of profanity is strictly prohibited. We are not licensed to sell alcohol so please bring your own. There are no alcohol sales on Sunday in the State of Georgia.
Why is your price to camp higher than other facilities?
We are a service oriented destination that is all about mountain biking. Therefore, we purposely limit the number of guests on site so that you have ready access to bath house facilities, rec room usage, great grub, bike wash, shuttle services, maps and helpful information about the trails. The goal of Mulberry Gap is to provide you with an awesome, memorable hassle free experience that allows you the time to do what you came here to do - RIDE, relax and leave your stress behind!
What is meant by flexible check in, check out?
You are welcome to come early and stay late during your stay here. Though your cabin availability may depend on someone else checking out, you may arrive early and start your riding. On the day of your check out, we may ask to have access to your cabin so we may ready it for the next guest but you welcome to ride, shower and relax before heading home.
How much mountain road is required to get to Mulberry Gap?
We are a mountain destination but easy to get to since we are just 20 minutes (12 miles) from Ellijay and about 20 miles from Chatsworth. From Ellijay, the road is gently winding. From Chatsworth, you must cross Fort Mountain so there is more climbing and winding but scenic and offers several overlooks for mountain viewing.
Coming from Ellijay and Chatsworth, you will turn off Hwy 52 onto Conesauga Road which is all paved except the last two miles before getting to Mulberry Gap. This short section of gravel road is well maintained but can get dusty.
Coming from Eton, CCC Camp Road is paved until entering the forest alongside Holly Creek. There will be about 5 miles of gravel before getting to Mulberry Gap. This road is more bumpy and rocky however, it is a scenic byway and a beautiful drive.
Cancellation policy?
We are reasonable people. Life happens and sometimes it gets in the way of your vacation plans. We will work with you to reschedule should you need to make a change. A cancellation fee to cover costs of food purchase will be charged if cancellation is less than 48 hours in advance.
Hunting season dangers?
Hunters are required to be off the trails by 10 am. For extra precaution, wear bright colored clothing and ride with at least one other person. We have a large forest and wilderness area here so there are plenty of places to hunt without being right on the trails.
Wildlife?

We are located in the forest and near the Cohutta Wilderness Area and Wildlife Management area. The area has deer, black bear, bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, wild turkey, birds of prey and an occasional mountain lion. These animals are to be respected but not feared. They have plenty of natural food to eat and want to avoid humans as much as we want to avoid them. If you are lucky enough to see a wild animal in it‘s natural habitat, consider it a privilege and enjoy the experience. Extreme caution should be shown with mammas and their babies as that is when they are most protective and aggressive. We recommend you ride with at least one other person.

At Mulberry Gap, we have NEVER had a problem with wildlife. Our on site dog population is on regular patrol so though we‘ve occasionally seen something wander in to get a drink we‘ve never felt in danger. That being said, please don’t invite trouble. Lock up food and coolers in cabins or vehicles. NEVER feed a wild animal.

What are your peak seasons and seasonal weather conditions?
