For Riders of All Abilities!
Lon has been riding anything with two wheels since he was a kid--from BMX, to moto hare scrambles, to mountain bikes. After a major mountain bike accident that damaged the vertebrae in his neck and blew out his knee, he realized the need to improve safety and control in his riding.
He has since invested himself in developing techniques to ride skillfully and safely without sacrificing any of the joy of the sport. He believes that good riding should be accomplished with technique, confidence, and skill--not just luck.
Lon earned his Professional Mountain Bike certification in Whistler, British Colombia. In addition to the three days required for that certification, Lon recently made a second trip to Whistler for continued education, where he spent four more full days in private lessons.
He has studied with numerous instructors over the years and has applied their combined wisdom to his own riding and teaching. Through his mountain bike skills camps and private lessons, Lon has shared the thrill of riding both safely and skillfully with beginner to expert riders in many parts of the US.
Chuck Lewis is the Service Manager of Bike Link in Hoover, Alabama. Having worked in the bike industry now for over twenty years, he has witnessed first hand how equipment has progressed and in many ways and has gotten better since the early days. His current rig handles almost everything better than his trials bikes and mountain bikes from "back then."
After competing in observed trials events and performing bike trials shows in the Southeast for seven years, he settled back into riding mountain bikes like he had done before the trials days. He found that the skills he learned during that time opened up so many more possibilities to enjoy local trails and tackle more challenging trails. Since then, he has been personally certified as an instructor under former pro downhill champion Shaums March in 2012 through his International Mountain Bike Instructor Certification program. He later joined forces with the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA), helping to develop what is now the IMBA ICP course material. He has been both teaching in clinics and conducting private lessons for several years for riders of all ages and skill levels.
It's from this background that he teaches classes from basic handling and body position to advanced maneuvers and technical riding. Whether you're looking to race faster on more difficult trail systems or you're wishing to have a more confident ride on your home trails, he's got you covered!
