Questions our biking, hiking and camping guests often ask
What is a bunkhouse?
Our bunkhouses are small private cabins with bunk beds. They are clean and comfortable with firm, thick Serta mattresses. Each cabin is furnished with bed and bath linens. The beds are freshly made the day of your arrival. For your comfort, the cabins have a mirror, bench, hooks, shelves and an electrical outlet. Because of their wooded location, the cabins are comfortable in the summer but a fan and heater are provided for additional seasonal climate control.
We offer one cabin that sleeps 4 people in two bunk beds. An additional cot can be
added for a 5th person if necessary. Two additional cabins are split with 2 bunks per
side. Each side has a separate entrance but because there is a shared wall, you may
hear some noise from your neighbor.
Hot tubs, bathrooms, showers?
We have a wonderful, new, conveniently located heated bathhouse with 6 showers and plenty of hot water, 4 toilets and 4 sinks. Another bathhouse with two home type facilities are also available. It is perfect for couples or families of young children who need assistance with showering/dressing.
We have two cozy barrel type hot tubs located beside a brook that runs through the property behind the cabins. Relax while enjoying the moon, endless stars and rustling trees. The hot tubs have ozinators and are sanitized daily.
Are reservations necessary?
Reservations are preferred but not necessary if space is available. However, food availability and choices may be limited.
Are mountain bikes allowed?
Absolutely! This is an excellent facility for mountain bikers. 150 miles of the best mountain biking trails in north Georgia surround us. We are a ride in/ride out facility for Pinhoti Trails, Bear Creek, Windy Gap, Tibbs and Milma. At the end of your ride, great food, a hot shower and hot tubs await you. After a peaceful nights sleep and a fabulous breakfast, ride out for another full day of fun. We have bike racks and a bike wash. We shuttle to trail heads. Bikes can be shipped to the property and securely stored if arriving from out of state.
What if I have special dietary needs/preferences or requirements?
When making reservations, please let us know. We are familiar with the dietary needs for diabetes and celiac and can accommodate vegetarians and macrobiotics lifestyle. We must have advanced notice and there may be an additional charge.
What if I prefer to bring my own food?
We are in the Cohutta Wilderness Area so this is bear country! We discourage bringing in foods that will attract bear and other foragers, not to mention ants making their way into your quarters. However, if bringing your own food is important, let us know and accommodations will be made.
Are ATV’s and motorcycles allowed?
Yes. Because we value our serenity, we ask that noise be kept to a minimum out of respect for other guests and that all restrictions in trail riding with the Chattahoochee National Forest be respected.
What about Internet access, beepers, cell phones, radio and television?
Internet access is available if you bring a laptop. Cell phones and beepers do not work on the property. There is no television however each bunkhouse has electricity should you wish to bring a portable TV. We discourage the use of radios so that others may enjoy the solitude.
What is your pet policy?
We love pets and offer a pet friendly facility. In fact, you will find a few resident dogs on the property. Of course, we expect all pet owners to be considerate of other guests by crating them at night or when away from your sleeping quarters, cleaning up after your pet, keeping them on leashes or restrained if necessary so as not to be a nuisance to others. We offer a daily pet sitting service and can even accommodate horses! When making reservations, please let us know the type of pet you are requesting to bring. Sorry, we cannot offer long-term boarding.
What is your "lights out" policy?
Because we are small and private, this is an excellent facility for small groups or friends to gather and enjoy their time together. If one group reserves the entire camp, a great deal of leniency can be shown. However, if multiple guests are in camp, a reasonable lights out policy should be observed. In addition, several gathering places are available away from others wanting to sleep. Above all, please be considerate of others!
What is your policy regarding smoking and use of alcohol?
Smoking is a major fire threat so if you must smoke, please do so in the area of a fire pit and dispose of the butt therein. Moderate use of alcohol is allowed however, drunkenness, unruly behavior or use of profanity is strictly prohibited. What activities are offered?
Please check out our Attractions page and BlueMooseToDo. We will post additional local events as dates become available. We are surrounded by mountain biking trails, fishing streams, hiking trails, hunting and swimming holes. There are several places to walk/hike/run within our 15 acres. Blazing campfires are available each evening. For rainy/inclement weather days or evening fun, our dining hall is available for games, puzzles, reading and conversation.
