Party on Wheels Takeover

Andrew and Kate will start their 350 mile ride at 11:00am on Friday, January 29th, 2016. Here's the plan and projected route.

We're going to start on the south side of the Croom Mountain Bike Trails at the intersection of Croom Rd and Croom Rital Rd (GPS Coordinates: N28° 35.793' W82° 14.006'). Day 1 we'll ride from Croom to Ross Prairie Trailhead. For those familiar with the Santos trails and 50-mile epic route, this is the first half before turning around and heading back to the start. Ross Prairie has a campground but you also have the option to camp in the woods. From here we'll continue riding Huracan 300 route clockwise until we hit the Florida Divide Trail.

We'll be honest and admit we don't have firm day to day plans or a tight schedule. For two folks who haven't been able to ride many consistent miles as of late, our only plan is to ride as long as we can each day and then set camp. We'll have a SPOT Tracker with us and will post the link on this blog along with social media sites. Keep tabs on our location and meet up with us when it's most convenient for you. We're aiming to finish in 5-7 days from start to finish which will give us an average of 50-70 miles per day. You can go the whole length with us or just do sections of it. Remember, we're not trying to go out and crush any records. We're just riding in the woods with friends.

We'll turn off of the Huracan route when we head south on the Florida Divide trail at Lake Clearwater (GPS Coordinates: N28° 58.506' W81° 32.999').

We'll take this south to State Road 60 at Yeehaw Junction (GPS Coordinates: N27° 46.675' W81° 07.500') and head east to our hometown of Vero Beach.

When we originally planned this trip, we didn't realise the actual Huracan 300 route would be taking place at the same time. The official start is January 30 at 8:00am at Greenway Cycles in Ocala, Florida. We'll most likely see lots of action throughout Saturday and you might even see a few familiar faces.

We look forward to seeing you all out there and riding bikes!
