It's a Party on Wheels Takeover
Consider yourself invited on a little Bikepacking adventure we're embarking on in late January / early February.
Andrew and I didn't get to celebrate his birthday or our anniversary this year. We had other things planned; driving down to Florida for a mountain bike festival to promote the business. So, we've been been planning a bikepacking trip for the last few weeks to make up for it. Although we didn't know where we were going or when it was going to come to fruition, we knew it had to happen. We knew we desperately needed to get on our bikes and get lost in the woods for a few days, maybe even a few weeks.
As the days and weeks have unfolded, we started to put together a plan. We knew we needed to stay close to home, would want warmer weather as this trip would be in late January - early February and that flat land would probably be better than enormous elevation gains and losses as we tend to go months without touching the bikes these days.
Last night, after talking with a few friends and guests, things began to come together as we discussed the possibilities of the Huracan 300 route. The distance, weather and proximity to home was perfect! Then we thought, how can we make this entertaining? The answer: invite everyone we know! So, that's what we're doing. We don't have an exact departure date, we don't have solid plans. We don't want them.
What we know? Mulberry Gap will be closed from January 26 - February 11. At some point during those dates, we will meander on down to Florida, find a safe place to park the vehicles, mount our bikes and roll out. The only deadline is to get home in time to open the gates and welcome guests back into our home at Mulberry Gap. Seriously, We would love for you, yes you, to join us! Do the whole thing, come for a few days or just a few hours if you live close by.
This is going to be a Party on Wheels. A term we coined for a few special folks from this year's Trans North Georgia race in August. A few fine folks rode together throughout most of the 350 miles and we're always happy, always having a good time and just stoked to be on their bikes. If your attitude is going to be anything but - stay home.
This won't be a race, it will be a tour. We'll enjoy the scenery, campfires, warm coffee in the morning, mealtimes, drinks of all different flavors, fine company and amazing memories. This trip is about the experience and we want to share it with the mountain bike community that has supported us and loved us throughout the years.
Consider yourself invited. You have the dates, meet up with us anywhere along the way and let us get to know you if we haven't had the opportunity already. We'll have a SPOT tracker so you'll know where we are and can find us along the route and join in on the party.
We'll post more details closer to time. Go ahead, ask for a day or two off work. It will be worth it.
