Wild that this is the 15th year of the shuffle!

Here's how it works, you prolly know the drill by now -

You will have 5 hours. That's it. All riders and runners/hikers will be required to pedal or run under their own power to designated locations throughout the Chattahoochee National Forest. Destinations in this “scavenger hunt” are unknown until the morning of the race. Maps will be handed out about 5 minutes prior to start with destinations and their point value! You’ll have ~5 minutes to make a strategy, form alliances, and get ready to roll out!

DIAL UP THE DIFFICULTY FOR MORE POINTS! *NEW SCORING SYSTEM*

  • E-Bike Riders: Every point is worth HALF the face value

  • Geared Bike Riders: Every point is worth face value

  • Singlespeed Bike Riders: Every point is worth face value PLUS a 3-ticket bonus for each location visited

  • Runners/Hikers: Every point is worth DOUBLE the face value

  • Vintage Bikes: Meet three criteria with your bike - 26" tires - Rim brakes - Triple chainring and you’ll earn a bonus of 8 points!

Example: If Potato Patch is worth 5 points- Ebike riders get 2.5 points, geared bike riders get 5, singlespeeders get 8, and runners get 10!

Riders/Runners will take a picture of themselves or their bike highlighting a trail feature of the specific location in order to earn points. For every point earned, each rider will receive a raffle ticket to put towards the prize or prizes of their choosing.

Each of this year's awesome prizes will be raffled off individually. The more tickets you acquire the better chance you have of winning a prize.

Tickets will NOT be available for purchase, you may only accumulate tickets by reaching as many locations as possible within the given time period. OR

NEW THIS YEAR: Donate any unused gear you have lying around to the Youth Cycling Team! One ticket in exchange for every piece of donated gear!

Timeline of Events -

  • 9:00am - 9:30am - Check-In / Registration in the OFFICE.

  • 9:45am - Pre-Ride/Run meeting OUTSIDE of The Barn to receive maps of the area and the designated locations which riders will seek for point values. The difficulty of accessing the destinations determines the point value. Your mode of transportation can increase (or decrease) the points you earn!

  • 10:00am - The event begins at 10:00am SHARP, leaving you with 5 hours to make it to checkpoints throughout the Cohuttas. By combining certain locations, bonuses will be awarded. All riders will have until 3:00pm to reach as many points as possible. For each minute you are late ½ point will be deducted from the riders score!

  • 3:30pm - The Raffle will take place accompanied by a Mulberry Gap homemade chili dinner (meat and veggie options available), cornbread and dessert. Participants 21+ will receive 2 Cold Beverages included in the event!

**Lunch will be available as early as 2:00pm and will be offered until food runs out. We ask all participants (unless staying overnight) be off premises no later than 5:30pm.

Remember cabins and camping fill up fast this time of year so make your reservations well ahead of time. We have our big Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday night, so consider checking in Thursday for a long weekend getaway including the holiday dinner and the shuffle event. <3

Feel free to extend an invitation to all of your mountain biking friends and family for some great riding and holiday fun. We look forward to seeing you at the Turkey Shuffle.

This is a Fundraiser for the North Georgia Mountain Bike Association and Gilmer Cartecay Youth Mountain Bike Team (our local NICA team!)

Registration -- Proceeds will be donated to our local SORBA chapter and GCA team!

Includes parking, access to bathhouse facilities, showers, Wi-Fi, lunch (not optional) and donation. Reduced child rates for ages 5-11 are available.

What’s the running pace going to be like?

What if I’m SUPER FAST? Or what if I prefer the PARTY-PACE at the back of the pack?

All paces are welcome! We assume the folks at the front of the pack leading the runs will be moving along at around 12.5 minute miles. If you’re faster than that, and can read a map, you’re more than welcome to keep pushing ahead! We’ll also have sweep runners at the back of all the groups to make sure that no one rocking slower paces gets left behind. <3

And there’s no minimum or maximum involvement… you might run with every group run, or take some extra time to hike, hot-tub, or hang out. This is YOUR weekend to RUN WILD, however you like it!

Brutal Loop Fundraising Ride! (April 29, 2023)

Back again in 2023! Come ride the Brutal loop and support the north georgia Mountain Bike association!

Like it says on the label, it’s a little bit brutal!

Come out an support the local trails on a NEW, IMPROVED, but still BRUTAL, Brutal Loop!

Everyone rolls out together: We’ll have a long course and a short course, so you can choose the loop that is the best fit for you! We’ll meet up at 9:00am, and roll out at 9:30am. Everyone will climb up P2, P1, the outer loop of Bear Creek, and will keep climbing all the way to Potato Patch! You’ll find an aid station there (around mile 17) courtesy of the fine folks of the North Georgia Mountain Bike Association. The station will have water, but we ask riders to bring their needed aid station food, nutrition, and supplies in a drop bag that will be awaiting you. But then…

  • Short course folks will bomb down the gravel from there straight back to Mulberry Gap for a course length of around 23 miles

  • Long course folks will hang a left and continue past Lake Conasauga, run down Windy Gap, then climb the pavement and gravel back to Mulberry for a total route of 34.8 miles and 5193 feet of climbing! Cut off for long course folks at the Potato Patch aid station will be 12:30pm. If a rider doesn’t make the cut off they can convert to the short course route.

And once you return it will be time to kick back on our deck, grab a cold beer or soda, eat some lunch (included) and enjoy some relaxation on a beautiful spring day in the mountains. :)

check out the routes, mileages, and elevations here:

33 Miles - Check out the map here (from Mulberry Gap, you’ll climb P2, to P1, to the inner Bear Creek Loop then take gravel past the Bear Creek overlook, up to Potato Patch and across the ridge to come down Windy Gap. From there, you’ll take a few miles of pavement and gravel back to Mulberry Gap).

21 Miles - Check out that map here (from Mulberry Gap, you’ll climb P2, to P1, to the inner Bear Creek Loop then take gravel past the Bear Creek overlook, up to Potato Patch then turn around and descend gravel back to Mulberry Gap).

$45 Per Ride - this INCLUDES lunch and beer/soda. This is a FUNDRAISING RIDE, so all proceeds beyond our costs will go to the North Georgia Mountain Bike Association.

WALK INS ON EVENT DAY WILL BE WELCOME, BUT WILL BE CHARGED AN INCREASED RACE DAY FEE OF $65/rider.

Event SchedulE

8:30am - Grab OPTIONAL breakfast before the ride ($15/person, preregistration is required so we can be sure to have plenty of food)

9:00am - Check in at Office. Drop off any drop bag you’d like to have waiting at the Potato Patch aid station. Meet at The Barn once checked in.

9:30am - Roll out!

1pm-4:30pm - Lunch is available (included in your event fee) in The Barn as riders return… hang out, relax, drink beer, and enjoy the mountains!

6:00pm - Plan to still be hanging out? Preregister for dinner for $23!

4th Annual Singlespeed Smackdown!

One Gear and Lots of Beer!

The Smackdown is BACK for year four! Come join the Singlespeed Militia on Saturday, October 2, 2021 for a singlespeed-only ride in the North Georgia mountains.

If you're stupid enough to ride a singlespeed on purpose, then this is the event for you.  You want long, leg-burning climbs that will make you regret taking your gears off? We've got that. You want rocky, slick, muddy, relentless descents that will have you whining for your full suspension rig? We've got that. You want to finish the day with good beer, good food, and good people after your ride? We've got that, too!

The Singlespeed Smackdown starts at Mulberry Gap and will take us up to Potato Patch; down Mountaintown Creek; around Bear Creek and all of Pinhoti 1 and 2. After about 35 miles, the ride finishes at Mulberry Gap where you'll be met with great food, beer, and some fantastic raffle prizes from our awesome sponsors. Your fee includes a custom t-shirt (designed by Militia riders Josh Bowden and Daryl Myers). There will be a sag stop to refill your water bottles and participate in the double-secret Smackdown Challenge!  Tee shirts NOT guaranteed for those who register after August 31, 2021.

Timeline: Event
Registration: 9:00 - 9:45
Pre-ride meeting: 9:45
Ride start: 10:00
Lunch and beer: 2:00 - 3:30

This is a self-paced and self-supported group ride. We encourage you to ride with at least one partner, but you also need to be self-sufficient. Carry all the water, food, and tools you need with you.

Georgia SORBA Epic Weekend

Join us for an EPIC WEEKEND!

During the 1st annual GA SORBA Epic Weekend at Mulberry Gap from March 29-31.

GA SORBA Epic Wknd.png

Join the Georgia Chapters of the Southern Off Road Bicycle Association for a weekend of IMBA Epic rides and fellowship in the North Georgia mountains!

Inspired by the Nimblewill Mountain Bike Festival of days gone by, we are reviving an annual weekend to celebrate the work of our Georgia SORBA Chapters and the great riding and camaraderie of our Georgia mountain bike community!

In our inaugural year, we could think of no better place to base camp than with our good friends and sponsors Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Get-A-Way.

All reservations for weekend accommodations will be handled through Mulberry Gap. You can choose your meals and your lodging, whether you want to camp or stay in one of their awesome cabins. A two-night stay is required. Reserve through their website today: https://www.mulberrygap.com/cabin-camping-reservations-mulberry-gap/. Have questions about accommodations? Call 706-698-2865 or emails reservations@mulberrygap.com.

SATURDAY

On Saturday, we will ride the Bearhoti route straight out of Mulberry Gap, the classic combination of Bear Creek, Pinhoti section one, Pinhoti section two and then back to the Gap.

To register for Saturday's Bearhoti ride, buy a ticket on this event page. The price for the ride is $15 and covers all facility fees for Mulberry Gap which include parking, wifi, showers, a SAG stop, and a donation to the local trails. Prefer to skip the 4.5 mile gravel climb? You can opt for a seat on the shuttle for an additional $10 and you'll meet us at the top of the climb. Mulberry is also offering a bagged lunch option for $10. The SAG will be included on the route with water and light snacks. The ride starts from Mulberry Gap in front of the office at 10 A.M sharp. Shuttles leave at 10:30 and are limited to 24 riders. You must buy a ticket here to register for the ride and you will need to sign a waiver on site.

SUNDAY

On Sunday, we will move over to Bull and Jake Mountains for a Poker Ride and fundraiser for SORBA sponsored by Maxxis, CST, and Finish Line products.

To register for the Poker Ride at Bull Mountain, buy a ticket here. $25 gets you in on the Poker Ride and the potential to win some great prizes from our sponsors. You will also get a cool stainless steel pint glass to commemorate the ride. All proceeds from this ride will go to aid in future trail maintenance at Bull and Jake Mountains. The Poker Ride will start and end at the Bull Mountain Parking lot. The ride starts at 11 A.M. and we will have a cut off of 3 P.M. You will need to sign a waiver on site for this ride.

SORBA Rain Policy

In the event the trails are too wet to ride per SORBA's policy for responsible riding, we will have a gravel route option for both locations. The great news is both Mulberry and Bull Mountain have some of the best gravel riding in the state, so a good time is guaranteed!

Can't spend the entire weekend with us but have either day free? Join us for a great day in the mountains for either ride.

Sounds pretty epic right? Remember, if you want to ride, you MUST BUY A TICKET to either one or both of the rides.

Any questions can be directed to Brett Davidson, President of MTB Atlanta at sorbabrett@gmail.com

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you for an epic weekend in the mountains!
