Brooke Hammel

Housekeeping Specialist

Brooke is an Atlanta native who spent her formative years in England and Colorado before returning to Georgia in 1998. An outdoor adventurer since childhood, she grew up camping, hiking, swimming in creeks, scrambling questionable rocks, and riding her bike way too far from home (it was the 80s and 90s, after all). As an adult, she spent nearly every weekend escaping Atlanta for the North Georgia mountains, climbing, backpacking, rafting, and chasing swimming holes.

Brooke and her husband Jason, who celebrated 20 years of marriage this year, raised their three children exploring these mountains before moving to Ellijay in 2022. These days, when she isn’t managing US Operations for a global SaaS company, cheering on her son at Gilmer football games, or feeding a houseful of teenagers, this self-proclaimed river rat can usually be found beside a favorite swimming hole, cold brew in hand.

In seasons of life with a little more free time, Brooke has worn many hats: yoga teacher, gardener, homesteader, frequent potluck host, chicken mama, amateur herbalist, entrepreneur, and dog breeder. She's thrilled to add Mulberry Gap crew member to that list, having spent nearly two decades driving past the camp and wondering what life was like beyond those gates!
